If you need to peel a whole head of garlic break it apart, place in a metal pot with lid and shake it like crazy for about 30 seconds. The cloves will be clean of skin including those little tiny ones. If some still have skin just shake a little longer.

Another method is to put them in a metal bowl, cover with another metal bowl – open ends facing each other – like a clam-shell.. then you shake the bowls for a few seconds and the skin falls off in the bowl. You can find example videos on the Internet, but youtube isn't letting me link to an external site.
