This burfi with crunchy apples, nutty coconut and almond powder is great as a fast dish, a treat, a post-meal dessert … Woow !! Soo many ways to have this yummy treat.



3 medium red apples
3-4 tbsps ghee
¾ cup sugar
1 cup desiccated coconut
½ cup almond powder
A large pinch of saffron, soaked in 2 tbsps warm water
½ tsp green cardamom powder
Pistachios powder for sprinkling
Slivered almonds for sprinkling
Dried rose petals for sprinkling
Silver warq for garnish


1. Peel the apples and grate the portion around the core. Discard the seeds. Transfer the grated apple into an ice cold water. Drain and squeeze out the excess water.
2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add the apple and sauté till golden. Add sugar and mix well. Cook till it melts.
3. Add desiccated coconut and almond powder and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add soaked saffron and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.
5. Add green cardamom powder and mix well.
6. Grease a burfi tray with some ghee and transfer the mixture into it. Spread it evenly. Sprinkle pistachios powder, almonds, and dried rose petals and press it lightly. Keep aside to set for 1-2 hours.
7. Garnish with silver warq, cut into squares and arrange on a serving plate.
8. Serve.
