I have never heard of butter in any fried rice. My best friend growing up was Chinese and her dad was a chef in a a fast food Chinese restaurant and then a chef in a nicer Chinese restaurant. Chinese people do not use butter. Most are lactose intolerant. I also lived in Korea for almost 4 years. Their fried rice also has no butter.. I've also been to Japan, China, and Hong Kong, and their version of fried rice also has no butter. They use any vegetable oil. Sesame seed oil is meant to be used in a small drizzle not to fry the eggs and the rice it had a strong overpowering taste. You just need plain vegetable oil. I bet it tastes very little like the real thing, and that would be why.
