Is there any method without using soda ,yeast ,sourdough to make bread?

Very tasty, but didn't work out on first try.
I made this true to John's recipe and even my step-by-step looked like his photos (though I used the baking sheet/parchment), however, after 25 mins in the oven it was very dark on the outside and bottom, but still not fully cooked on the inside as evidenced by the bubbling butter in the centre of my 'X'. So I covered it with foil and did 5 more mins. It still didn't get fully cooked, but I had to take it out due to outside doneness. I'm able to at least use a good portion of the outer parts for toast and it tastes really good! Next time I will try a lower temperature or maybe even divide the loaves.

I do not have a cast iron pan. Am just wondering what i could use instead. Maybe a round cake pan.

My recipe, handed down from my Irish great grandmother included caraway & raisins & it is fabulous! It is also, I’m sure due to modern conveniences, baked in a loaf pan & a super easy, heavenly treat!

I was so excited to make this bread and I fluffed up the flour and added it perfectly. I go to mix the flour with the milk and egg and it was still soupy like cake batter. I couldn’t get it off my hands and it ended up a huge mess. I kept adding flour until it finally stopped sticking to my hands like wet glue. I think I ended up with at least 4 1/2 cups of flour.
