Don't most cans nowadays come with those snap-off tops, like a Coke can? I haven't used a can opener in quite a while now.

I switched to a "safety can" version about a decade ago and I love it. I will also add that there actually is a slight tactile feedback when you finally go all the way around the can as it gets noticeably easier/faster in its movement (it's definitely not nearly as noticeable in a traditional can opener, but it's there). But really, the pros of the safety can opener far outweigh the cons IMO.

I haven't ever used a so-called "safety" can opener, but if it exposes the top sharp edge of the can itself, I fail to understand how that's safer. Either way you have to deal with a sharp edge somewhere.

I've had an OXO can opener for at least 10 years which sees lots of use (I cook 2 meals a day) and still looks new and works perfectly every time. Some of the comments here that question how OXO wins so many ATK tool reviews suggest something nefarious going on. But if you have personal experience with OXO products, you know how good they are, and at a fair price for their quality, functionality, and longevity. They've probably produced a few duds over the years, but nothing I've bought.

You keep picking up that SwingArm. Made in the USA, it will safety cut, just put it on its side. I use it at a restaurant going on 5 years. It has cut MILES of can. and still works as brand new.

I actually saw this on TV. One thing I think would help these review segments, on screen CAPTIONS when you name the recommended products. I heard "Sizzler" as the brand of the better safety can opener. I do not regularly use captions when watching TV. On my TV they are a pain to turn on and distracting. Too often I miss the model when you simply state the name.
