]]> https://amazingfoodstv.com/gear-heads-the-toaster-you-need-to-get-perfect-toast-every-time/#comment-246541 Wed, 08 Feb 2023 05:01:21 +0000 https://amazingfoodstv.com/gear-heads-the-toaster-you-need-to-get-perfect-toast-every-time/#comment-246541 i own the breville toaster and it's pretty disappointing. the main problem is that the heating wires don't go all the way across the slot. instead it's like they stuck two single slot "burners" together and there's a gap between them where they connect that doesn't have heating elements. you can see it on this video if you look at 1:15 or so. that wireless zone goes the whole way down the heating element. this translates to uneven toasting- if you're doing a long slice you get a part in the middle that's not as toasted as the sides, but it's worse when you're toasting 4 more regular sized slices as the sides closest to the middle don't toast as well. it's so bad that i never set the toaster to the setting i want, instead i set it at half with the intention of flipping the toast to the other side to get even color across the whole slice.

Lots of nice features. Missing one though, the ability to turn bread into toast. Really, very poor performance, had one replaced under warranty, replacement is no better… not even going bother trying for another one. One of my all time worst buys.

Cheap toasters convert some where around a thousand watts to heat energy. A better one will be around 1800 watts. But a really good toaster doesn't like the voltage in the average American Kitchen because 120 VAC is Too little power. You need 240 or 208. With that you can start looking at toasters that produce well over 2000 watts of heat energy.
This is why the Dualit toaster sucks because In the UK they have 220 in the kitchen outlets. Here however they sell a crippled wimpy weakened version that limps along on 120 VAC and it just can't do the job.
