Can you use Plexiglass? Can you find someone to cut it to size and install it yourself as a trial to see if you want to invest in a window above the bathroom door at all? Just a thought??

The window would bring in more of the natural light but since eventually the big opening will be getting doors, closing it won’t make a difference. Maybe you can change it if you want to in the future.

The risk of using staples is that they could get rusty and become visible through the plaster. Especially when staples are poor quality.

I hope you did select white framed. Windows for the villa? As the are much more nice to the light than darkframes….
White have less maintenance than dark too as the high temperature on dark frames requires more sturdy paint
