It depends on what type of bread. You have to find one that isn't too moist or else your cookies will become one soggy mass (normal white sandwich bread does this when I try it). Bread that is too dry can have the opposite effect. Just make sure to experiment to find what works the best for your cookies!

it's just wet dough if it doesn't crunch. A cookie is supposed to crack when bitten.
