What I do is simple.
(Am Irish)

450g flour (300g white, 150 whole wheat)
6g salt
10g sugar
20g baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

Mix with 450g buttermilk.

Add to greased loaf tin, flour the top then cut across with a scraper (as in cut all the way down)

Bake around 45-50 mins, 180c. Preheat to 200 before.

Irish soda bread would not include baking powder, a ton of sugar, eggs, sour cream, or raisins. You simply made a quick bread that has nothing to do with Ireland.
