Not the 3/4 cup white sugar concerned about, though again, most cornbread recipes call for a bit of sugar ( not corn cake ) as they went back & forth about.
But…Isn’t 1 1/2 Cups an awful lot of butter to amount of flour and sugar? Old Fannie Farmer I got in last millenium calls for 2 Tablespoons, melted. Sub something? Oil or applesauce.
