I do it this way when we do potluck, as you never know if someone has nut allergies. When I make them for my home I add a cup of chopped pecans to the bottom layer and it is incredibly delicious!

This cake was originally created here in St. Louis, MO. It is called a gooey butter cake. Neiman just stuck their name on it.
