Get some cheap ones, with a grain that won't split, use them often and put them in the dishwasher. My wooden spoon is one of my most used kitchen items and it sure wouldn't be if I didn't throw it in the dishwasher with everything else in my kitchen.

-Can be used to make more than rice! There recipes online (especially through Tasty Japan) that allow you to make soups, stews, desserts, 'baked' goods, and just general steaming. With steaming, you can cook vegetable side dishes &/or seafood,
-Some Zojirushi rice cooker models have a separate button to cook brown rice in a way that increases the GABA amino acids in the rice, making it more nutritious! (I sought out this function specifically when I bought mine.)

So having a Zojirushi is not just for making rice; it can cook a whole variety of things, even entire meals. Think of putting in rice, veggies, boned chicken, then go about your day before sometime later having a full hot meal waiting for you!
