This looks amazing and I know how important the onions are in the meat but I hate the texture in my meat (lol). Could I take the onions out before the garlic cooking or am I just wasting time?

1lb of Jimmy Dean sausage browned, 2 jars of Kraft Old English cheese mixed until melted, then put ~1tbsp on cocktail size bread slices and bake for ~15 minutes at 400°.
