Man I've tried and owned both. I was gifted a HUGE, really heavy offset grill. It was terrible. The lid was so heavy I had to practically throw it open. Cleaning the ashes out was even worse. I had to almost climb inside it to do so. It was so bad I avoided cleaning out the ashes till they started swirling around and getting on my food.

The experience made me feel like charcoal just wasn't for me, so I bought a gas grill. I actually enjoyed it, and had nothing bad to say about it. But it wasn't long before I wanted to get into smoking some stuff. The offset was way too hard at the time, so I found myself looking for a smaller grill. Among other things the one touch ash cleaning system was what sold me. Imagine cleaning out your charcoal grill and never getting your hands dirty.

I quickly learned fire management, temp control, two-zone set-ups, snake method, minion method, etc. Before long I wasn't using my gasser at all, so I gifted it to someone else. But it got us through some tough moments a couple of times.

Once when the big freeze hit Texas and left many without electricity. I was able to fire up that gasser and cook for us. The whole experience taught me that no one grill or grill type is better than another one. It's simply about your own preference.

Question/ content suggestion. UK viewer. We don't have Kingsford or B&B. We have whatever you can get in the petrol station or supermarket. Common issue - is do a full chimney starter, temp shoots away up over 400 in a few minutes. Shut vents, get it down. Good. Saved. Open vents to bring it gently back up to something civilised. Nope. Temp now flatlining too low. What am I doing wrong?

Respect to everyone using whatever, they use. Myself, charcoal/Briquettes. Nothing beats the taste of 🔥's kissing protein. If you can handle direct heat grilling, you're at the Pit Master Doorsteps.

Ever since I got my Weber kettle that I won at my jobs Christmas party last year I promised myself that I would never cook on a gas grill again.

Also I tried the Oklahoma joes chimney starter and I will never use another chimney starter again it’s made of better materials is way wider than the kingsford or Weber chimneys and has vent holes all the way around it from top to bottom it shaves off at least 10 minutes as far as the time to get the coals lit goes.
