  1. Who the HELL said "Shepherds Pie" for a GROUND BEEF dish? The clue is in the name you fool! Shepherd = Sheep Herder, so Shepherd's Pie is made from LAMB … COTTAGE PIE is the one made from Ground Beef

  2. Lazy Man stuffed cabbage . . . .shredded cabbage in bottom of roaster, rice/meat/onion meatballs on top, covered with 1 can diced tomatoes and 1 can condensed tomato soup ( do not add water, cabbage will shed water) It's easier than rolling cabbage rolls. . .

  3. Almost all of these are on my monthly meal plans rotation so they haven't vanished. The only people who have forgotten about them are the mislead young people who have fallen for the red meat is bad for you pseudoscience. Or the instant gratification generations who no longer take the time to cook and rely on unhealthy processed food to survive. Most of these dishes can be made in 20-30 minutes with just a few simple healthy ingredients. If people would take the time to plan and cook their meals, not only will they eat healthier they will save money.

  4. My grandkids always say it's not granny's goulash unless it has corn and green beans in it lol. I love cabbage rolls, and stuffed peppers. I made macaroni a couple of night ago. I love Frito pie but my husband doesn't lol. I still make a lot of these,

  5. I'm old enough to remember growing up with these recipes. Not because of the depression, but right after WW2 my young mom with 2 young children and husband with his first job was living on a budget and she would "reuse" the recipes she experienced in her family during the depression.

  6. Um,….someone needs to read these scripts better. Salisbury steak's gravy is loaded with "Mushrooms",…..NOT ONIONS.

Also,…..when exactly did these recipes become FORGOTTEN ? ? ? ? ? Most everyone I know still eats these dishes…….I guess since Im not 13 Im not up to date on what is still eaten today……lmao

  7. I make sloppy joes, beef stroganoff over rice (hubby likes it over noodles) taco pie, meatloaf (different every time), enchiladas and chili, of course. My Mom’s Baby porcupines is one of my favorites, but I have not been able to replicate it. Totally American cuisine!

  8. I grew up in the 60's and not many of these ever hit our table. Meatloaf, chili, sloppy joes are the three that I recognize the most. We did a lot of creamed eggs, pizza with hot dog slices, and soups. I guess it kind of depends on where one grew up 🙂 Thank you for the memories and the ideas.
