Ingredients
500g / 2.1 cups Strong White Flour
300ml / 1.25 cups tepid Water
2 tbsp / 30ml Olive Oil
12g / 1.5tsp Salt
7g / Levelled tsp yeast
200ml / 0.85 cups of water for baking
Method
1) Add flour to bowl, two tablespoons of olive oil followed by the salt and yeast at opposite sides of the bowl. Fully combine dry ingredients.
2) Add the water, one half at a time, mixing thoroughly into the flour to make a dough.
3) Tip the dough onto a lightly oiled work surface and knead for around 10 mins.
4) The dough should now be smooth, place it in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with cling film. Leave to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5) Push out the air in the dough on a lightly floured surface. Fold the sides over each other, making the dough into a small round parcel. Cover with a tea towel and leave to rise again for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
6) Heat oven to 230C/fan 210C/gas mark 8. Pour 150ml water in your Spring Oven and preheat for 10-15 minutes.
7) Lightly flour the base of the pre-heated Spring Oven, place the dough and score the top with a sharp knife.
8) Bake covered for 20 minutes, remove the lid and turn down the oven to
200C/fan 180C/gas mark 6, bake until brown.
