I have lived in East Tennessee for over 8 years, and I talk nothing like these people. I say Ya'll and they say 'you' ins' and 'we' ins' and 'us'ins'. I can't spell it like they pronounce these words! English is a difficult language to learn and I have heard that people who come here from different countries find it the most difficult language for them to learn.

  15. I definitely hear the w when you say bowl. Your boil sounds like boll as in boll weevil. I'm from Washington state so I enjoy hearing the different pronunciations in other parts of the US. By the way, I plan to make the meatloaf recipe (using ground turkey) even though I personally don't like meatloaf. I make it about every 9 years for my husband and I am past due for making it.

  25. Have to make that Roadkill steak for hubby! He'll love that. I'd love the Greek salad, but hate cucumbers. Funny though that I love dill pickles. We don't like zucchini or squash which would be a good substitute. He likes melons, but alas I don't. So anybody have any other ideas or suggestions for me to replace cucumbers 🥒 🙂. Thanks again for all the recipes. Taco meatloaf is a great idea!

  34. The meatloaf is certainly getting a try out here this week. That is several good meals for my mom and I. And boy did you get my attention when you said Texas Roadhouse and Road Kill. That's the only thing I get there, well fried pickles also. The Greek salad is right up my alley also. Love non-lettuce salads.

  45. When you live in the south, it can also be difficult for people to distinguish between when I say “pen” and “pin”. Isn’t it wonderful that people develop their own little dialects in different regions? As my 98 year old fairy godmother says “Vive la difference” (long live (appreciate) the differences)
