Easy Creamy Tuna Pasta Bake = Super Comfort Food!



This Creamy tuna pasta bake is superb comfort food and a classic meal that everyone loves and that’s made with mostly store-cupboard ingredients!

Ingredients:
14 oz (400g) rigatoni pasta
3 tbsp butter
1 onion peeled and chopped finely
1/3 cup (40g) plain/all purpose flour
2 1/2 cups (600ml) milk
2 1/2 packed cups (250g) strong cheddar, grated
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
11 oz (320g) canned tuna (albacore tuna if possible) drained and flaked
11 1/2 oz (330g) canned sweetcorn drained
1 cup (150g) frozen petit pois

To Serve:
Fresh chopped parsley

Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 180C/350f.

2. Boil a large pan of water, add the pasta and cook for 10 minutes.

3. Whilst the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a saucepan, add in the onion and cook on low for 6-8 minutes until the onions are very soft.

4. Turn up the heat to medium and stir in the flour. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

5. Slowly add the milk, using a whisk to stir (just stir, don’t whisk) it in.

6. Once all the milk is incorporated, continue to heat whilst stirring until the sauce thickens.

7. Then stir in ⅔ of the cheese until melted. Season with the salt and pepper.

8. Drain the pasta and pour into a 20x30cm baking dish.

9. Pour over the white sauce, then add the tuna, sweetcorn and petit pois.

10. Mix together, then sprinkle on the remaining cheese.

11. Bake in the oven for 15-20 mins until the cheese is golden brown.

12. Top with fresh parsley before serving.

  1. This would even be delicious with Alfredo sauce, with a mozzarella, provolone shredded cheese along with the tuna & frozen broccoli florets and sprinkled with shredded Parmesan (with the pasta of your choice)… and baked just the same as the original recipe instructions. 🤔😉👍🏼

  3. this dish will SERVE 4 FARMERS after a full days graft on MOOR easily however im not on the MOOR all day and live alone iv stuffed my face as much as i can i physically cant ram any more into me, WHAT DO I DO WITH 3/4 LEFT OVER, i will cut the measurements down to half next time as EVERY HARD WORKING FARMER OURDOORS ALL DAY COULD ONLY EAT 1/4 OF THIS RECEPIE IT WILL FILL A FULL SOUP BOWL TO OVERLAPPING FALLING OFF THE TOP DOWN SIDES I USE A PROPER SOUP BOWL NOT SOME MAMBY PAMBY SHALLOW AVERAGE BOWL THINK 2 NORMAL BOWLS OTT BY DOUBLE THE RIM not moaning just trying to let ppl know how much they are dealing with HALF THE INGREDIENTS and it will still serve 2 starving FARMERS ONT MOOR cheese is very expensive like a luxury in 2023 so cost effectiveness is in the eye of the beholder of your pay
