Review: Weber Grate Grill Cleaner – Chris Allingham – The Virtual Weber Bullet

I saw Weber Grate Grill Cleaner at Lowe’s. I’m an EZ-OFF oven cleaner guy for cleaning my cooking grates, but thought I’d give this Weber product a try. How did it work? Was it better than EZ-OFF? Will I be switching? Watch to find out!

  1. I clean my 22 in cooker grates by soaking a bit in a Dawn detergent solution. Since I don’t have a large sink, I use one of those safety water catch trays that are used under hot water heaters. It is shallow but more than deep enough to get the job done. Home Depot sells them.

  2. Good video. Personally, I was hoping/expecting you to do one side with this stuff and the other side with Easy Off to show a 1:1 test. On the other hand, like a clean desk, an overtly cleaned grill is a sign of a sick mind. 😁 Thanks for showing this cleaning product.

  3. Chris, you are just old school!

    Keep doing what you’re doing!

You taught me how to smoke ribs back in 1999 when I first got my WSM !

I believe the 18 “ is still king!’

Can’t thank you enough for what I’ve learned from you and your website!

  4. Good, informative video, Chris. Cost concerns aside, maybe can swap out the spray trigger head with one that provides more of a wider spray pattern that will slightly minimize the lost product and likely have to spray less to cover the grate with product.

  5. If you could find the right size of plastic bin with lid, where the grates can be entirely submerged, you could keep it filled with some really strong degreasing solution (Zep or similar), put your grates in it, and maybe it would take care of like 90% of the work. And only change out the solution every few months or so. But at over 80 bucks per gallon, I'll pass on this Weber cleaner.
