Takes toooo long to make homemade from scratch. Next time I will pre prep the dough.
I didn't freeze my crust or heat the filling and mine turned out fine.

The reason canned pumpkin is darker in color than fresh made pumpkin puree is because 80% of the ingredients in canned, is Squash, and Butternut squash is used a great deal of the time. The USDA allows food distributors to put 100% pumpkin on the label because they're all in the squash family. Myself I buy fresh butternut squash instead of pumpkin to make homemade from scratch. It's noticeably better and I wouldn't doubt Costco uses Butternut squash as well.

Why cannot I see the recipe?
Somebody help me out: If I double this recipe for two pies, would 6 eggs be too much, too egg-y tasting? Would 4 eggs suffice?

Can I substitute soy milk for the evaporated milk?
What material should my pie dish be made of for this recipe? I only have glass and porcelain pie dishes and I'm afraid they might shatter going from freezer straight to oven.
Added point; with the frozen pie shell and a warmed custard, you probably lessen the likelihood of over browning your crust (if youโre using readimade crusts, this can be a real problem!).
Baking the crust for 15 min and on top of that baking the crust with the whole pie again made it a disaster ๐ค wasted
