what i ate ~ teriyaki tofu. japanese noodles. shiitake mushrooms. fish egg pasta.

what i ate in a day ~

This is the last day of me trying to clean out my fridge!

lunch — teriyaki tofu + dashi somen noodles
I dredged tofu in potato starch and used equal parts soy sauce, mirin and sake for the sauce. Then I used my cold infused dashi and paired this with somen noodles and hot chili oil.

dinner — pollock roe pasta + shiitake mushrooms
So pollock roe pasta is considered a fusion food and it’s extremely popular in korea and japan. Fish eggs and creamy pasta work soo well together — give it a try and you might like it!

  1. As yummy as all this looks, I can’d do fish. It’s my one food trauma, we were kinda not well off, so my grandpa would fish to save money. I liked the smell of it frying but eating it, was gross. Often times the eggs were included and I would be required to eat at least 1 fish and 1 sack of eggs to complete a meal (or starve). I hated it very much, to this day, if I eat fish or fish roe it makes me wanna puke.
It’s sad really I’d like to explore these things, but I simply cannot.
But it’s okay! Because I can watch everyone else enjoy which makes me happy! 😊

  2. My father used to dry the salmon eggs overnight over the sink with bit of salt and pepper on them and in the morning fry them up in a bit of butter or with some fat back scrunchions newfoundlander style, delete that with boiled potatoes or just with some toast but the preserved cod or motor that you guys eat over in Asia I've never been able to develop a taste for it, nor I'm trying to say the salmon roe, I would like to try fresh sushi but I'm not a fish guy but I would jump in head first if I was in Japan
