oh lord…who are these amateur home cooks
Why do the more professional cooks cut turkey in thick chunks when it seems most people prefer thinner slices?
My mom had one of those electric carving knives in the early 90s; that sound took me back 😂🤣 Thanks for showing this stuff off; I really hope you’ll be launching the video about induction burners soon; I’d love to see what’s out there and what you recommend. If you don’t already have a video on butane burners with like the Iwatani Cassette grill and other indoor flame burners like it that would be amazing too.
Lisa is back?! I stopped watching ATK after she disappeared from the reviews. Definitely my favourite member of the team.
Question: Were the turkeys carved here cold or still warm after roasting?
You know, these videos would have been great a month ago for Thanksgiving!
My parents got a Sunbeam electric knife in the mid-1960s, and I don't recall them using it for anything but turkey. I bought myself a Black & Decker model about 20 years ago, and same thing; Thanksgiving and Christmas are about the only times I use it, so it's no wonder it's lasted 20 years: that's only 40 uses at most.
When I moved I left my Mom's 1950's Hamilton Beach electric carving knife with its faux wood inlaid handle. And guess what? I bought a new one! It just does the job too well for turkey AND Christmas prime rib!
Who got a flashback of “Maximum Overdrive” when the knife cranked up? Lol
still have my black and decker from 20 years ago. works like a charm. Carving board looks small. what size turkey will that fit….usually have 2, 20 lbs turkeys at my home.
I don't get why people make turkey in Thanksgiving when chicken is way tastier.
Interesting that the electric carving knife ($28) is cheaper than the ATK-recommended Victorinox 12" carving knife ($45) which I have. I love the Victorinox for carving, even more than my chef's knife (also your recommended one). But I use my carving knife quite frequently because it's amazing, whereas I don't think I'd bother with the electric as much.
Electric knives are awesome for turkey but you really need to pay attention to them when they're making contact with the board because they can tear a cutting board up quickly.
Oh yeah I remember the electric knives. That distinctive sound. I just never knew that there were 2 knives! You guys are great, funny. Thanks
We cannot afford a turkey this year. No tools needed for hot dogs.
My electric knife from the 60s (early 60s) looks just like that, well kind of close.
All that food looks good asf🔥😍😋
After watching your video I check to see what my electric knife was. It's a Black & Decker. I've had it for about 25 years. Still works great. Is it for everything from slicing homemade bread to carving a turkey.
So you use a chefs knife and not a carving knife!
I was surprised to see canned cranberry sauce on the table. Yuck!
It would be great to have a video on making homemade cranberry dishes. We are quite fond of the no cook recipe that's on the Oceanspray bag of fresh cranberries….just cranberries, sugar, and orange zest… it's best when it has a chance to come together overnight.
Years back Christopher Kimball used the electric carving knife.
Didn't see Lisa actually cut the breast or did I miss it by blinking!
I always love these demonstrations where they cut a cold turkey after it has solidified. Try a real world hot bird. BTW, the electric knife is great cutting ribs too.
Lol @ when Hannah brought out the electric knife! Great video!
We use the electric knife my grandparents bought around 1970, still works great
I have that electric knife but I always forget to use it. I think the biggest tip is to let the turkey rest, cool off for much easier carving.
disappointing
If a cutting board moves around, put a damp paper towel under it.
I’ve used my electric knife to cut my turkey for years! I feel vindicated! Thanks, ATK!
'holiday chainsaw" @Fourthgirl Nailed it!
I still have mine. Hardly ever use it and was going to give it to Good Will. Maybe I will give it another try!
I remember one year in the 70s (it all blurs together now) when there was an electric knife under just about every tree, typical 1970s avocado green and white, probably Hamilton Beach or Sunbeam.
Ladies, it's 6:50am in California. Not only am I alerted yo your wonderful video I am then triggered by the sound of my mother's holiday chainsaw she insisted on using. Then I have no Thanksgiving dinner to comfort me.Thanks ATK.
