Potato Soup, the Ultimate Comfort Food

This rich, creamy potato soup is delicious was deemed one of the best things I’ve cooked all year by Mrs. Meat Church. It is inexpensive, goes a long way and fills up the hungriest of appetites. We find that red, white or Yukon gold potatoes are the best choice. They hold their shape after cooking better than russet potatoes which are better suited for baked or mashed potatoes.

In this video we cook outside, but this soup can be prepared on your stove!

  1. Matt. Holy Cow! That looks amazing! So check this out! That is what I make after St. Patrick's feast. Instead of bacon of which I think ill use this year in combination with the corned beef brisket. I add some carrots to it as well and talk about phenomenal!

  2. This is very close to the way I do it. I just subtract the chicken broth and heavy cream. Bacon goes into the soup instead of just a topping. Four cups whole milk and one 16 oz container of french onion dip. Otherwise exactly the same.

  3. I have a lot of the Meat Church seasonings that I absolutely love, but Blanco is the most versatile and the one I use almost daily instead of salt and pepper. If you haven't, you gotta try it on popcorn (and add some honey hog in it too for it to really pop – pun intended)

  4. Love that you're making different things. The lady and I were talking last night and she said can we cook on the grill this weekend. I said how about chili and she said I have been craving a stew. Which in our part of the country it's been pretty cold outside. So that's the plan for the weekend smoking a stew on the traeger in the Dutch oven.

  5. 2 seconds in, and I see a bottle of Blanco, oh holy cow! Actually a little Holy Cow might be a good addition to potato soup, but Blanco is the perfect seasoning for this recipe, and I'm a little disappointed in myself that I didn't think of it.
