Baking Marathon on a Snowy Morning | 4 Homemade Bread Recipes to make for a Cozy Kitchen Day

On this snowy morning we’re making 4 bread recipes for the weekend.

Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Bread
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup warm water
1 packet active dry yeast
2 TB butter, softened
Filling:
2 TB cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar

Directions:
Add warm water and yeast to mixer.
After 5 minutes add the flour, sugar, salt, and softened butter.
Mix with dough hook attachment for 5 minutes.
Transfer dough to greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour.
After one hour roll dough out on floured surface into a rectangle.
Add cinnamon and sugar mixture, and raisins if adding.
Roll up and place in greased loaf pan.
Let rise 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350.
Bake for 35-40 minutes.

Jam Filled Donut Muffins
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
10 tsp jam, jelly, or preserves
Topping:
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
In a small bowl mix the sugar, oil, egg, and milk.
Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
Fill muffin cups half full.
Add a tsp of the jam to each muffin.
Cover each muffin with the rest of the batter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Make topping:
Mix butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
When muffins are done dip tops in topping.

Quick Casserole Bread
Ingredients:
1 packet rapid rise yeast
2 3/4 cup flour, more if needed
2 TB sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm milk
2 TB olive oil

Directions:
Combine the yeast, flour, sugar, and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer.
Add the milk and oil. Knead 5 minutes with dough hook attachment.
(If the dough is too soft add 1/4 cup more flour at a time to get it to form into a soft dough ball.)
Place into greased 2 qt casserole dish or loaf pan, cover and rise 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350.
Bake 25-30 minutes.

Garlic Breadsticks
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 TB sugar
1 tsp salt
1 packet rapid rise yeast
3 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Directions:
In the bowl of a stand mixer combine the water, sugar, salt, and yeast.
After 5 minutes slowly add the flour.
Cover in a greased bowl and let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350.
Pour half of melted butter into a 9X13 pan.
Press dough into pan.
Top with the rest of the butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and parmesan.
Bake 18-20 minutes.

  1. Gosh, you got so much done! We've had temps in the teens and twenties the last few days. I sat by the fire and read. I fixed what we call Hot and Zippy sandwich this week and made Cavatini casserole last night. That was the extent of my cooking, lol. Man, it's interesting getting older!   2. ✍Hello Moss Family… I remember those days of baking on cold and snowy days❄🍞 You've got so much patience with the kids helping in the kitchen especially Manley. I envy that because I never had or even have much patience today…One time I said I pray for patience and they said don't because you'll get tribulation that you're to pray for understanding🙏 Boy do I need too…ha ha ha ha Your breads turned out beautiful and I bet they're delicious🍞 I heard the weather man had predicted snow for the Southern states so I hope and pray you don't get much and if you do that you're Safe and Warm ❄⛄ I feel so bad for those families that lost everything in the storm "Helene" that wiped out everything and now families are living in tents and campers but pray they will be ok🙏 I've been wanting to make that Casserole bread 🍞 maybe Sunday for dinner.   3. It's really cold in Tampa again too. I thought it was starting to warm up then this cold snap came through. Last night the feel like was 22 degrees which to me they may as well say it's 22 because it sure felt it lol. My girl cat watched this with me lol. It all looks so good.

  4. i don’t know why but trying to make homemade breads has always been intimidating to me. watching you create these delicious homemade goodies in your kitchen is magical. the kitchen probably smelled so good! i think I'm going to try the raisin bread, as you have given me confidence in doing so.
