The Top 3 Most Overrated Ingredients

Here are the top 3 overrated ingredients.

1. Tomahawk Steaks
Fat and bones bring flavor, but once you cut away the actual meat you’re not left with much to eat.

Why anyone would want to pay $80-$90 for a bone? If you really want to get boned, just do your taxes.

#2: Truffle Oil
The synthetic stuff that they use to soak food and then charge you an arm and leg for isn’t real truffle, and it doesn’t even taste like it.

There are much better things you can add to food than chemicals.

#3: Lobster
There are so many other kinds of seafood that cost less but are so much more delicious.

I would take Lake Superior whitefish, crab cakes, and definitely a seafood empanada over a lobster tail any day.

Do you agree with this list?

  1. We all have those things we can't stand in the buisness, for me its beef wellington, I had to make 30 a day at one of the restaurants I worked at for a decade. To this day I hate the things. They are the biggest waste of a tenderloin. They aren't cooked enough for the flavor of the mushroom duxelles to penetrate cause that would burn the puff pastry on the outside. So you get a 1/4 inch of intensity around very bland undercooked tenderloin. You can make tenderloin taste of just about anything why are we going out of our way to make it taste of nothing?

  2. Love the information. Mac and cheese used to be only at five star restaurants and lobster was basically free for the poor and never eaten by the rich. Also a ribeye in my opinion is the way to go. It's marbled in fat and has the same flavor as a tomahawk.

  3. tomahawks arent a rip off though lol? i buy them for £15 and they taste great and have enough meat for 3-4 people.. you obviously havent had nice tomahawks mate 👎🏼 you even said it soo confidently aswell lool

  4. Lobster is a racket unless you're coastal. We used to buy it from the docks or out of fishermen's vans growing up. Amazing. But I can't believe what people are willing to pay for it elsewhere – it used to be a poor man's meal! My grandfather would get teased for being poor, having lobster in his lunch bag.
