KUNAFA
For cream & cheese filling
– 500 ml milk
– 2-3 tbsp cornflour/ corn starch
– Sugar as per your taste
– 1/4th cup fresh cream
– Mozzarella cheese
For sugar syrup
– Water
– Sugar as per your preference
– 1/2 lemon juice
– 1 tbsp rose water / orange blossom water
For Kunafa
– Kunafa dough / Kataifi dough
– Melted butter
Recipe:-
For making the cream filling, take milk add in cornflour,Mix it well, and switch on the flame.
Let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes, then add in sugar as per your preference & fresh cream, once it thickens add in mozzarella cheese
Let this cook for 1-2 minutes while continuously, stirring it.
For making the simple syrup,in a pan add in milk along with sugar, lemon juice and rose water. Boil it for a few minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved, and it’s done !!!
Take Kunafa dough and chop it into small pieces add and melted butter and mix well so that all the kunafa dough is nicely coated in the melted butter.
Grease a pan with butter, Transfer half of the kataifi dough to the pan and use your hands or something flat-bottomed (like a glass) to spread and level out the layer.
Then, add the cream filling along with loads of mozzarella cheese , spreading evenly. (You can either add slices of mozzarella cheese) either will work well. I recommend leaving an inch of space around the outside so the cheese doesn’t ooze out the sides of the kunafa.
Finally, add the remaining dough and level it, pressing lightly.
Place it the pan on a tawa and let it cook on low flame, so that the Kunafa won’t burn.
Once done from one side, take another tawa and place it on top and flip the Kunafa over it and let It cook for another few minutes until golden and crispy.
Serve this hot with a generous amount of sugar syrup on top.
Garnish it with some chopped pistachios and enjoy!!!
