All I do is put a thin layer of salt on the rind and let it sweat. Then add more salt on it with oil then rub it into the rind and cook. It always comes out crispy. I used to do the puncture thing but stopped doing it.

Only you don't need the sugar. Salt and vinegar work perfectly. Need to stop pushing the sugar and carbs from all angles.
