Hello Foodies!
Here is a classic Grandma dish that I LOVE to eat, but can only eat it once year because of how rich it is. This is Hmong style slow cooked pork. What’s different about this slow cook pork is how we cook it. It’s slow cooked in its own fat and then reduce/cook in the fat even more after it’s been slowed cook. Basically this is a FATTY slow cook pork. But it is super delicious with rice. My Grandma would use a pigs head to make this dish. But today, I’ll be using pork belly and pork knuckles since it’s easier to access those parts. We’ll be making two kinds: One with mustard greens and one with ginger to balance the richness of the pork. So give it a try and make sure to not eat too much of it 😉 Happy cooking!
NOTE: Cooking in a pan, instant pot, and pressure cooker will call for a couple cups of water so you don’t burn the pot! Like always, fresh pork is the way to go with this recipe.

YAY THANK YOU! I had this dish for the first time years ago from a Hmong's friend's grandma and she hasn't been able to find anything written about it for years until now. I am so excited to make the dry ginger version ❤️

It’s a satisfying dish and I loved it. My mom is the one that makes this dish.
Please say the hmong word for your dishes clearly. I have a hard time hearing it due to you rushing the word. Thank you
I tried this with baby back ribs with ginger and it was good!
My mom or grandmother would make this but never take out the bones. It was a free for all 😭🤡😪
My mom would make it occasionally when i was growing up. Haven’t had it in ages. Thank you so much for the recipe!

So good for my tummy, not so much for my arteries though! 😥
I want some now! But I’m too lazy to make it!
I miss this dish! My dad used to make this and it was fantastic! Funny how when I was a kid, I didn't appreciate it as much, now that I'm an adult, all I want is hmong food!
yum my fave is with ginger and sour bamboo.
Love this dish
Yum…My favorite hmong dish….❤❤👍👍
I am 15 wks pregnant and I crave for this.
Southerns ppl also make it too. They eat simular to us. It called southern cajun foods is it? They also still use intestines to make sausages.
Do you have an Instant Pot? I'd love to see this recipe cooked in one of those 🤤
Do you add water to the slow cooker?
This makes me miss my mom. I love this recipe so so much.
Definitely miss eating this, love the way my mom use to use it
Use the instapot. It only takes 1 hr to cook!
"Nqaj Npua Tsawg" peb hu ua "Nqaj Txob"
Good memories. My Grandpa used to cook this dish 30 years ago when I was kid, the very fatty and very soft version with slow cooked pork and lots of green ^_^ I was delicious
I don't remember how he was naming this recipe but I am pretty sure the dish name contained the word "Nyoj"
Will definitely be making this… after I get paid lmao also almost forgot there is a dry crunchy version o.o Thank you for this video! Super helpful since I forgot how to make it xD
Try it as Hmong tacos with local herbs available. Mexican gonna be jealous. You're doing great. Substitute cabbage for mustard green and you have Hawaiian Kalua Pork.
May I ask, what is mushroom seasoning, please? It must be important because other than the ginger and salt, it's the only added flavoring besides the chili sauce at the end. Thanks very much. This looks fantastic.
Look hella good
Omg this is one of my favorite dish as a kid I haven’t had it ever since I got married…..been 13 years….thank you for doing this video maybe one of these days I’ll try making it
Hawaii it's Kalua Pork and Sloppy Joe in the Midwest but this one is better. Low Country, add Collard greens instead. Poland, add sauerkraut.
Wow you can cook
Omg, this brings me back. I haven't had this in soo long. I love both version you made and will soon make it on my own when I have the time. Lol thank you for your video.
I grew up eating this bruhh! Thank you for the video
Omg, I always begged my mom for this and she always got it from a friend. Haven’t had this for years and excited to make it. Thanks
Ty for sharing for us Hmong Americans! Using easy access meats and crockpot really made cooking this dish less intimidating.
I love this dish!!! My grandma use to make it and my dad just made it a while ago and I was craving it!! True me too I could only eat it once in a while
