Honestly the best tip I have to stop crying from onions is to cook more. I haven't felt my eyes water from onions for years now.
Short of that, apparently soaking your peeled onions in water for a few minutes before you dice can help.

Personaly for not crying when i Cut onion. i protecting my eye with my safety glasses because the problem is the volatile acide making your eye ichy. And i already having it because i was working with hazmat.

I never have a problem cutting onions when I have my contact lenses in, but if that's not an option, I can't think of anything short of swimming goggles stopping the tears.
For the onions I used to work at a Subway and chewing mint gum helps but if you put a damp paper towel down near where you are dicing it helps as the agents in the onions has a chemical release and it binds with the wetness of the eyes causing the burning sensation. With the closest thing being the damp towel it’ll go mainly to that.
