This Blue Ribbon Prize Winning Scone Recipe was kindly shared with me by a lovely viewer named Marie. She first found it in a Sunday newspaper many years ago after it won a Blue Ribbon at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, baked by a country CWA lady.

I’ve been making these scones regularly ever since, both at home and at work, and they always receive wonderful feedback. They’re beautifully light with a lovely fine texture and are perfect served with jam and freshly whipped cream.

In this video I show you the traditional techniques that make these scones so special, including why the flour is sifted several times and why this recipe recommends kneading the dough, something quite different from many modern scone recipes.

I also share what I believe is the best gluten free flour I’ve used so far. It makes beautifully light scones with no pasty aftertaste, and I’ve also had great success using it for bread, cockles and coffee scrolls.
