For 9 bucks I can get a pound of whole cumin seeds or powder at Indian grocery store.
The best supermarket cumin is from the toasted seeds that I grind myself as well as coriander, allspice, cinnamon, etc.
And simply organic is all biodegradable glass jar and metal tin lid
I go to my local Indian grocery and buy the whole spices. The turnover is high so they are not sitting there too long, and much cheaper.
In ancient Rome? No need to go that far back. It's that way right now in Morocco. Many restaurants will offer salt and cumin, not salt and pepper.
I get cumin from a local Indian grocery. I do a lot of Indian and middle eastern dishes, so I go thru the larger packages I can only find in Indian groceries. If you don't use cumin a lot, don't buy a larger quantity. Cumin has a shorter shelf life.
They use the same audience reactions for every video.
NEVER buy pre-ground… You might as well use sawdust.
agree. toasting the seeds for a few minutes makes cumin swoonworthy. your kitchen will smell good too. I have an old krups coffee grinder that i only use for spices. cumin!
Best are whole seeds fresh ground in small amounts. Indian grocery store typically sell whole cumin seed for $3-4 a pound
Great info. Thx! Would love the same scrutiny for a review if the newer small companies that are going directly to the source like Burlap and Barrel. I’m finding most of their spices far exceed the taste of grocery store products. And after hearing the cost of the ‘Simply Organic’ cumin – the small companies aren’t any more expensive – in fact are cheaper!!! Please consider. Thanks again.
Kyoomin? WTH is that that?
I use Cumin, pronounced Koo-men….
Penzeys is usually my go-to with regard to most spices, herbs, and other seasonings. Sometimes (often?) a little pricy, their spices are fresh and provided with a "best by" date. I cannot remember their exact recommendation for spice replacement, but it is no more frequently than every year or two with ground spices and twice that for whole spices. Because spices lose their more volatile elements (flavor complexity) becoming less flavorful over time, Penzeys suggests getting no more of a particular spice or seasoning than one is likely to use in a year.
Best cumin is an oxymoron.

Penzy’s is the best. At the Supermarket……?
I don't like the taste of cumin
I had a friend from Morocco who showed me the best way to eat scrambled eggs. On your plate of scrambled eggs sprinkle one line of cumin. Dip each forkful of egg in the Cumin as you eat it. It is very delicious.
Cumin smells like homeless body odor….i can only bear it as a whole seed. It tastes great to me like whole. Once it is ground i cant convince myself to swallow the bite.
Love you shows. This is a good one!
Go to the Indian or Asian markets and you can get giant bags of whole or ground cumin for the price of one of those little jars.
I could personally use less fake nodding.
Penzy's … you'll never look back,
You want to buy while cumin, then roast it and grind it yoursrlf. That is the way.
Bridget looking quite pretty here.
There is nothing better than a good clove joke.
I love these videos AND the hosts… always have the best personalities!!
Sorry, but I am a purist on cumin… Penzey’s. Nothing else. Penzey’s (Yes,, I know , not available at local supermarkets)
The best cumin is Magic Hills Finest American Cumin which is made in Egypt and sold through a Chinese syndicate. It has a spicy confusing taste that doesn't insist on itself.
Not fond of the smell of cumin
When you can't stand the taste of cumin but love jack bishop taste test.
I never really though there was much of a difference with Ground Cumin. I'd just go with Simply Organic or The Spice Hunter. Both brands are relatively inexpensive compared the Spice Islands stuff.
Been using Badia seasonings for 20 yrs. Inexpensive & made here in Florida. Supporting a local business. side note: ALDI cumin is AWFUL
