  1. I can’t stand the one you picked as the best jar lifter… I use the progressive brand jar lifter. It’s spring loaded. I love my ball water bath canner I just don’t leave the rank the in canner when I done canning. That’s just stupid!

  2. I just ordered this on Amazon—before I spotted your review. I’m glad I chose wisely. I had to replace the one I had, which was one of the cheaper models you reviewed. The plastic rollers had completely crumbled! And I was ready to can some marmalade, too.

  3. Interesting review on the jar lifters. I learned with and prefer the old school rubber coated type. Bought the Ball spring loaded and hated it. The spring load forces more on the hands to keep the grip closed (works against your arthritic/fibro hands) and the black part that goes around the jars is so large that it is hard to slide it through on a fully loaded pressure canner. The canner is packed tight, the lifter does not fit in between the jars without jiggling and rocking the jars.

  4. I have a granite ware canner that my parents used , it is pushing 50 plus years and work just fine . It has processed thousands of jars over the years . So save your money a quick wipe of a towel when finished and let it air dry with the lid off and you can have years of use for less the 20.00 (amazon 16.34)

  5. I really like the equipment testing videos. Could you do one on cheese grating? Which is best: rotary, box, flat, food processor? And tips on how to best grate hard or soft cheeses would be most welcome! Thanks!!
