  1. I tried grinding whole cloves in my spice grinder (because I did not want to go to the store).ย  It totally messed up the plastic (made itย turn from clear to opaque where the oil sat)ย and to this day STILL smells like cloves.

  2. It's curious that every discussion of older spices, I've seen, relies on the spice company's say so. My old spices work fine. Most are 5 to 10 years old. The cinnamon in the apple crisp. The ground cloves and nutmeg in banana spice cake. I still need convincing to throw out a spice that cost $50 a pound.
