I have used 4 times filter for 15 years. In fact, you can NOT tell the difference. Filter svedka or sky 4 times & compare with grey goose. No difference. Since Kirkland Vodka is so cheap I don’t do this anymore. Bottoms Up!
So basically but a cheap vodka but use a water filter which you can only use for vodka after. Wouldn't that make it cost as much as a good enough bottle

What kind of idiot drinks vodka straight. It has absolutely zero flavor and no personality. You can make vodka from literally any alcohol, including wine and beer, just by distilling it enough.

Americans prefer the clean, tasteless vodkas like Finlandia and Absolute, which are distilled like medical alcohol for maximum purity. The tasteless vodkas are idea for mixing because they let other flavors dominate the drink why they supply the booziness. Russians generally prefer to drink vodka straight and have a refined cultural palate that can discern a range of flavors, including water source and quality as well as the taste of the grain which are both considered important for good vodka.

would I need to replace the filter sooner if I pour a whole handle of vodka through it four times?
i love these tips, but the test kitchen definitely didn't "discover" this. this has has been known for ages.
"Seasoned palettes" for a odorless, flavorless liquor. Most of vodka is just a scam. Granted, the cheap, cheap stuff can be worse because of bad filtration, but at a point, it's all the same.

Yeah, at 1:00. In any case, I've had good luck with Finlandia and Prarie for good value vodkas for a semi-decent price.
the part you're looking for is "If you want it for straight up drinking, seasoned pallets will notice the difference. also the grit will be filtered out since you run it through multiple times
I thought Mythbusters tested this. Only Jaime and that Vodka expert could tell. Plus, running those filters the first time means a little carbon grit happens.

Filters don't run $3 a pop. Cheapest is probably $7. I wouldn't use that filter for water ever again. Really cheap vodka and good vodka has a much bigger price difference than $7. Plus you can use the filter multiple times. From what I understand plastic can be the enemy of spirits.
I've heard of this trick before. The problem is that it destroys the filter. You can use it a few times though. I've never tried but it does purify the vodka. I wouldn't use it for water again though.

you can improve flavor of cheap vodka with doritos consomme. this adds some southwestern kick to already kicky liquid.
