Lids on glass or plastic containers will last longer if you hand wash only. Putting lids with rubber seals around the inside will deteriorate quickly in dishwasher
good god ATK, clean up this woman. she's a mess, look at that hair, to start.
Plastic can also be broken down by mold or bacteria. Containers forgotten at the back of fridge become porous, and dangerous to store food in
I like glass because it can be frozen and baked. Verify if it's good from freezer to oven, though, or it can crack — temp change too drastic. Otherwise, it can be defrosted in fridge first.
What it's not great for is reheating food.
I miss real PYREX, but hey private equity companies had to ensure investor returns, right?
They're not pictured here, but there is a reason why professional kitchens use Cambro containers. They are great value for the money and the polycarbonate square tubs are nearly indestructible. A downside is that they could pick up odors; I used to cold brew coffee in 1-quart Cambro polypropylene buckets until I noticed the caffeol smell permanently stuck to them. I use mason jars for cold brewing now. Another is that they don't really make sizes below a quart or a pint, so they take up a lot of cabinet space.
It's often worth poking around in a restaurant supply shop that's open to the public.
If you want to avoid microplastics, don't heat food in plastic vessels.
They make this short and don't even mention the brands. Epic fail.
Normally, I would agree with her, but what is she doing right now? She’s working for Dow Chemical right now. The last thing you want to do is get plastic I don’t care what they tell you micro plastics are in all of us all of us including fish. The last thing you want is another plastic utensil that will end up in your food as it wearsstick with glass yes so what we have to get out of this mindset of convenience and lighter what does the hell does that even mean I don’t need things to be lighter. I need things to be safer for me to digest thank you but no thanks to plastic.
Plastic gets lighter with time because it leaches into your food. 🤣
I Love glass, the lids to give out after time.
I imagine they will try and figure out a way to put bioengineered food in them soon. 🥸
Plastic stains easily, especially tomato sauce.
It's called COOKING! It has been called cooking for thousands of years. It's NOT MEAL PREP!
Glass containers are sustainable. Do you like their plastic covers?
What brands?
This really comes across as "Here's why glass is perfect for food storage; though you should really use plastic ones instead because glass is heavy."
I disagree with food storage containers. Such a pain in the rear.
The weak point on any container is that the lids wear out long before the container does.
