  1. I agree in principle; I treat asparagus like cut flowers, trim the ends and place them in water in the fridge (with a plastic bag covering the tops) just like herbs but, gotta say, I do love that snapping sound…so satisfying!

  2. But…I LOVE to Snap!!! – it just feels so satisfying, and brings back memories of helping my mom in the kitchen. Thanks for the good info, I might just use the ends in a stock so they don't go to waste.

  3. I never snap my 30lbs of harvested asparagus a week. A well sharpened utility knife will almost fall through the spears at the correct spot. If you have to peel after that, you need to sharpen your knife.
