I’m pretty sure that the taste difference is also due to the yeast in the beer being a great source for glutamate, thus making things taste more umami. Ever since morons think msg is the devil because one (1) random physician said so in a letter to the editor, lots of foodstuffs list yeast extract instead of MSG. Unsurprisingly, it adds depth and meatiness to the flavor just the same.
And the abusive 20 year old drunk driver was from NJ where it’s a misdemeanor and they get their pic taken call daddy and they come pick her up and she comes home with daddy.
ok….i love battered anything but i'm allergic to beer in any form so what if instead of beer, seltzer or water we try carbonating stock or broth an use that to batter anything?…. hmmmm….🤔
Because Beer! Not necessarily because of the alcohol but the darker more flavorful beers are certainly my preference, and the non alcohol beers (where I live at least) are pale and relatively tasteless even compared to other pale beers, more like seltzer.
I've been using Vic Bitter to make batter for fish & chips for years. I've also made onion rings with Redback wheat beer (which is subtly sweeter). Beers are just awesome for making deep-frying batter.

I just wish it didn’t make the food tast like nasty beer
Beer batter is and always will be superior and there’s nothing anybody can do to stop it

Bear is always my choice. Now I gotta try in pancakes.

If using seltzer, couldn't you add a couple of splashes of worcestershire to darken the color and add a steakhouse flavor to the onion rings?
I wish I could raise a pint with Dan.
Plus the yeast in beer adds flavor

Does the color of the ale matter?
For those looking for a gluten-free option, try hard apple cider. Most brands are gluten-free, and it tastes about the same as beer.
Alcohol evaporates quicker than water leaving it with a crispier crust
Does non-alcohol beer provide the same sugar and protein?
No wonder I love beer so so much!!!
Vodka batter next ! !
