Simple BBQ Rub Recipe – Dry Rub Recipe – Backyard Texas Barbecue



BBQ rubs are designed to flavor meats while creating a crusty surface as the meat cooks. The amount to apply is the amount that sticks. Pat dry meat before applying a meat rub, sprinkle over the entire surface and gently pat in place. If you do it right, it will become the bbq rub recipe!

This dry rub recipe is very versatile. You can use it on your ribs, your chicken your pork shoulders and even on your grilled vegetables. It is my go to run on many of my recipes. Find this simple BBQ dry rub recipe here:

Ingredients for the BBQ Rub:

1/2 cup sea salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup paprika
3 Tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
2 Tablespoon garlic powder
4 Tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon celery salt

Mix all ingredients together and store in an air tight container for 30 days.

  1. Was ok but the skin on my smoked chicken was way too salty. We had to remove the skin. The meat was still salty but not as much . I'll try it with a couple of table spoons of salt instead. Hope that works

  2. Hi Kristen, I want to share some bbq love with your subscribers, myself included. I used this dry rub recipe on chicken wings in my air fryer. You talk about some amazing flavor, boom! Wings were moist and the rub was on point. Just a heads up that the recipe calls for 4 table spoons of onion powder, but on the video you say to use 2 table spoons of onion powder. Either way, this rub is FANTASTIC!
