  1. Well, im making this, and it's in the oven however i forgot to pour the butter over the bread, so im hoping it still comes out and is tasty. I'll update when it's done 1st time making bread pudding cant believe i forgot that step🫢

  2. In New Orleans we use either Lost Bread, stale French bread or the schwartz brot to make bread pudding. And if you’re health conscious, a half cup of bread pudding is 150 calories. The equivalent of 1 slice of white bread. If you use black bread it’s 140 a half cup. The German schwartz brot bread pudding is 10 calories less per slice but it has a unique flavor I can’t describe.

I’ve seen a few comments questioning healthiness of this dessert. Please don’t look at dessert recipes as unhealthy. Convert the ingredients to your liking. If it calls for 1c cream use half cream and add half cup of water and ditch the rum sauce topping dusting the pudding with cinnamon.

The choice of milk can significantly influence the flavor and richness of your bread pudding. Consider your dietary preferences and the flavor you want to achieve when selecting the type of milk to use. Additionally, don't forget to adjust the sugar and flavorings in your recipe to match the type of milk you choose.

I’ve tried almond milk (39 cal. 1c) and other non-dairy milks and the texture is altered from traditional bread pudding. I’ve tried Stevia🚫. But you can reduce the sugar by using pineapple. and sub butter with olive oil. I’ve tried all of these suggestions and the results range in thick soupy epicurean nightmare.
