@IguanaFlats asked us on Twitter: “What’s the best affordable cut of beef to use for a roast beef?”
The test cooks at America’s Test Kitchen answer your cooking questions straight from the kitchen.
To ask a question, tweet us @TestKitchen or ask us on Facebook:
Due to the high volume of questions, we are not able to answer every single one. We try our best, but the test cooks have to get back to testing recipes!
America’s Test Kitchen is a real 2,500 square foot test kitchen located just outside of Boston that is home to more than three dozen full-time cooks and product testers. Our mission is simple: to develop the absolute best recipes for all of your favorite foods. To do this, we test each recipe 30, 40, sometimes as many as 70 times, until we arrive at the combination of ingredients, technique, temperature, cooking time, and equipment that yields the best, most-foolproof recipe.

Prime rib why even mention prime rib and thats not cheat a 5 lb roast would cost $30, for me eye of round is amazing even bettre than sirloin just get it from the butcher and cook it mid to mid rare
Thats all well and good but you dont show the different cuts of beef so for those who dont know what your saying sounds like white noise!
["$6 a pound is cheap? Um, no."]
They said affordable, not "cheap."
If you want cheap, you're going to end up with a cut that will not work well for roast beef.
Informative and not too long; great videos.
you can go cheaper but that's shoe leather, not roast beef
$6 a pound is cheap? Um, no.
