Pork and lamb larb have become one of my regular dishes I cook at home. I use a lot more nuoc mam than here so I’ll try and reduce see what happens. Nice one young Mark 😉

No Kaffir lime leaves?
I Know It's not traditional but I think I'm going to marinate the meat first with a table spoon of oyster sauce. I will also take some Kaffir lime leaves and fry them just until they are crispy and garnish with that. I think half the fun of cooking is experimenting and finding new delicious combinations.
I made this tonight with a little twist 1 tsbp of minced Galangal root and 2 tsbp of fish sauce. Amazing! Thanks, Mark!

Is there any alternative for stickey rice?
Just made this and it's pretty spot on! I would say though: regular rice, toasted and ground, tastes the same. Use Thai basil, NOT sweet basil, it's not even close to tasting the same. More fish sauce, lime and sugar (trust me) and some MSG or Knorr chicken powder.

What is the difference between cilantro and the other which has roots? All I see in the store is only cilantro which I would think has the same flavor or am I wrong?

It's Lao/Isan food
Thai people have it beacuse of Isan people(Isan people used to be Lao people in the past)
and Larb(laab) is a National dish of Laos (Lao P.D.R)

cook the sticky rice in a dry pan. If you cannot find sticky rice you can use another starchy rice, I think even short grain italian rice for risotto can work.
