  1. Based on this video, I purchased the winning the Anchor Hocking set 1.5 years ago. The video stated that the "one disadvantage is that these were the only bowls to break during our durability test." I really like these bowls, but 2 of my 6 did break: one of them broke when I dropped it 2 feet to my hardwood floor, and the other one broke when I was heating it in the microwave for less than a minute.

I'm trying to buy a new set and am not sure if I want this set because due to their low durability.

  2. I prefer the old format for these video reviews, where one person talked about how they tested, the video clips shows the testing and the issues of the product, and then the final "winner" product is announced. This format is not very helpful, it's a lazy talk show style.

  3. I bought a few sets of 4 and 6 ounce glass prep bowls. I don’t mind having some extra space in the bowl after adding my ingredients. Don’t see why that would be a factor, really. I really like that they are microwave and oven safe for making smaller dishes/desserts. They also do double duty as ice cream bowls.

  4. Can we please have Lisa McManus back? Nobody needs a matching collection of different sizes, we just need a bunch of decent ones that do the job. 2 sizes, large and small. Lisa would know that. She's serious, and chintzy rubbish makes her angry. Bring back Lisa McManus.

  5. You can buy different sizes of clear glass bowls at Everything’s A Dollar – 4 for $1 for the smallest bowls, about 4 oz., 3 for $1 for slightly larger 6 oz. bowls, and $1 each for 20 oz. (2-1/2 cup) bowls. They work great, they’re microwave safe (I often use them to melt butter or warm up water or milk in the microwave), and they’re cheap enough to buy several so I don’t have to worry about doing the dishes to start a new recipe.

  6. I have about 6+ dozen pyrex/anchor 1,2, 4, and 7 cup glass storage containers. I use them for everything, from mise en place to putting away leftovers. Were they cheap? Not really. Do I use them constantly? Yes. Microwave and oven safe! I can prep an incredibly large amount of food quickly and easily, or ever prep tomorrow's dinner today.

  7. You guys will review anything and I LOVE IT. Thank you. My favorite mini prep bowls are The Pampered Chef. They have measurement markings and lids and have so far proved fairly durable.

  8. When I saw your favorite, I thought they were going to be my favorites, the duralex brand bowls. I've been using this 9 piece set for 3 years now, including dropping some off the counter, with no breakages or other issues. They're very similar to your favorite set, except perhaps more durable. I recommend testing them if prep bowls come around for testing again. I also like this set because you get some larger bowls, and they're all nesting. They're made in France.
