Taking Cooking food back to basics.
Ingredients:
Beef: 370g flank steak, sirloin, topside thinly sliced
Baking Soda/ sodium bicarbonate: 1 teaspoon
Water: 1/4 cup, about 3 tablespoons
Onions: 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
Ginger: 1-inch piece, minced
Green onions: 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)
Soy sauce: 2 – 3 tablespoons
Oyster sauce: 2 tablespoons
Dark soy sauce: 1 teaspoon
Shaoxing wine (Chinese cooking wine): 1 tablespoon
Sugar: ½ – 1 teaspoon
Cornstarch: 1 teaspoon
Water:1/4 cup
Sesame oil:1/2 teaspoon
Vegetable oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
White pepper: A pinch (optional)

Doesnt oyster sauce taste fishy? One of the few sauces i like is the one in Chow Mein. I dont like spicy and hate chinese 5 spice as it is sweet. Rik, doyou know what sauce that is please?
