Beef Stew is a staple in the winter months, perfect for those cold evenings and so versatile. This Beef Goulash Recipe is absolutely amazing, I use Beef Shin along with the usual suspects you would expect in a Hungarian Beef Goulash, Paprika, Peppers & Sour Cream, it is a match made in heaven and just takes it to another level. If making this Beef Goulash Recipe in the slow cooker, just skip the following process and throw it all straight into the slow cooker. I start by browning off the flour coated Cubed Beef Shin in a wide based pan (oven proof & with lid) in a little oil (Medium High Heat), do this in batches to ensure you don’t stew the meat rather than brown it. Once the Beef is coloured all around remove from the pan & keep warm. Now add in the mixed peppers & Onions and cook for a few minutes till slightly softened. Add your Garlic and cook for a further 2 minutes. Return the Beef to the pan along with the Paprika & tomato Puree, cook out for a few minutes to get rid of the bitterness from the puree. Season with Pepper and add the tin of tomatoes and Beef Stock, stir to combine, keep on the heat till it is up to a simmer. Place a lid on your pan and place in the oven for 2-3 hours at 160C Fan. Adjust accordingly however I used Shin of Beef which will take slightly longer, cook to your liking ideally falling apart. If you can, use the Shin of Beef, it really is something else however any cubed beef will work fine. I like to serve mine with Long Grain Rice however this would be perfect with some lovely creamy mashed potatoes or some nice thick cut chunky bread. This stores really well too, batch it up and store in the fridge or freeze, it will keep for up to 3 months (apart from the sour cream) 🙂 Enjoy!

New subscriber and nice to see different options for the beef – normally use stewing steak.
Can recommend adding fennel seeds and sherry as well.
Very nice dish, all l would say is to add one teaspoon of caraway seeds when you are cooking the onions and peppers 😋
That looks fantastic!
Perfect for this chilly weather nom nom
