Ingredients
– 600g beef fillet, sliced thin (rump will also work well)
– 1 brown onion, sliced thin lengthways
– 200g button mushrooms, sliced
– 2 tbsp grapeseed oil
– 50g butter
– 2 tbsp flour
– 400ml beef stock
– 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1 tbsp dijon mustard
– 3 tbsp sour cream
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Egg noodles to serve
Method
1. In a large frying pan, heat the oil and seal your beef in batches until they have good colour.
2. Once all the beef is sealed off, remove from the frypan and set aside.
3. Add the onions to the pan and sauté until they have some colour and start to soften.
4. Add the mushrooms and cook for 3-4 minutes.
5. Next, add the flour and stir well. Once all the flour is stirred through, pour in the beef stock and mix until you don’t have any lumps.
6. Cook for 10 minutes or until the sauce is nice and thick.
7. At the Worcestershire sauce, mustard and sour cream and mix well.
8. Add the beef back to the pan and stir through.
9. Serve with buttered egg noodles and enjoy!

How would you make a Doner or a Gyro?
I am a chef as well but instead of Dijon and Worcestershire substitute 1 can of tomato paste. The difference is amazing. I also change up the mushrooms sometimes and do shiitake or portobello.

Beef stroganoff is the comfort meal of all comfort meals, takes me back to childhood.
In Brazil we serve it with rice instead of noodles.

Boys add some heavy cream instead of sour cream unless you like that funk.
Personally I want my fresh food FRESH, certain cheese’s are one thing, but sour cream or yogurt incorporated in to cooked dishes is a hard pass for me 🤢
If you feel differently then by all means do you, but I don’t care for the sour taste and many don’t.

people always seem to want more out of a Stroganoff. Its just a quick stew of meat and veg, it's why it works. Although if you're eating it in Russia its has vodka in the sauce and is served with fried potato slices rather than noodles.
I hate Dijon mustard in beef stroganoff. Its flavor to me is too strong. Even the smallest amount. Any substitutes???
I havenät had a stroganoff since I lived with my parents some 15 years ago, I got such a huge craving last year. I didn't make it, but I thought about it a lot for like 2 weeks

My mom used to make it just like that… but with ground beef & a box of Hamburger Helper. Lol
Use meats accessible to average people. A denver steak would have been better, and also fillet is basic mitch steak. Its for peole who dont like beef
