Ingredients for Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe
12oz canned CORNED BEEF
1 small CABBAGE
1 large ONION
1 large CARROT
3-4 cloves GARLIC
2-3 Tbsp VINEGAR
2 Tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
1 tsp CARAWAY SEEDS
1 Tbsp dried HERBS
SALT and PEPPER to taste
OIL for cooking
How to make Corned Beef and Cabbage
Heat oil on medium heat in a large, heavy bottomed pot.
Add in chopped onions. Sauté onions for about five minutes.
Season onions with salt, pepper, and herbs.
Add in garlic and sauté for another minute.
Add in the cabbage and carrots and continue to cook on medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add in the Worcestershire sauce and vinegar and mix well.
Reduce the heat to medium low and let cook uncovered until much of the water has cooked out of the dish. Stir occasionally.
While cabbage continues to cook, open canned corned beef and cut into slices.
Heat a skillet on medium high heat and then sear the beef until well browned on each side. Then cut beef into smaller pieces.
When cabbage has reached desired doneness, add in the seared beef and toss lightly.
Serve hot.

A delicious recipe, but you burned the corned beef black and dry, totally ruining it. This dish needs a bit of juice.
As an alternative to Italian spices, Caribbean seasonings are very tasty on this too. Also, I would have used more meat.
The cold, sliced corned beef leftovers can be made into great sandwiches on deli rye bread with lots of pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, etc.

I am sitting here with a can of bully beef, a carrot, onion, garlic, carrots. There is only one thing to do for dinner tonight. I often make c.b. and cabbage a lot wetter but tonight I am going to try this version. I want it dryer. This is just the recipe I wanted. Thanks.

Can you do this with pinto beans too?
With hot water cornbread go with this?
Looks great. I like it a little more moist than that. So I went with your recipe, but: Olive oil instead of vegetable. Can of Vegetable broth instead of water. 50/50 white and black pepper. Left it covered a little longer than yours. Put it over quartered Yukon Golds 👍. Great recipe!
