  1. A lot of smoothie recipe's seem to add way more ingredients than what the title suggests. Why is this? I just recently started experimenting with juicing and have only been using two kinds of ingredients:
Peeled fruit such as apricot with apple (or any other 2 fruit combo)
and a little water just to thin it some.

Why do smoothie recipes tend to add so many other ingredients? What extra ingredient would one suggest for:
Thickening if you are looking for something heavy, or
thinning (other than water!) if going for something a bit more fluid that doesn't overpower whatever your smoothie is meant to be?

  2. When I crave chocolate I quickly throw together a banana, fry's cocoa, flax seed and almond milk smoothie (sometimes adding some maple syrup if I want it a bit more sweet). It helps satisfy that craving and I don't have to feel the slightest bit guilty 🙂 … I'm always interested in other smoothie ingredient ideas, and I think you are so creative! Will have to add sprouts and ginger to my next non-chocolate smoothie (although, ginger could be interesting with cocoa). Many thanks!

  3. I swear I'm flying to Canada one day to say hi and drink a smoothie together!!! 😉 I love your vibe! And have ever since seeing your vids for the first time (uhmmm 3 years ago?) I've been "following" you on & off for advice and motivation with my own work as a nutritionist. I almost always put ginger in smoothies – ginger rocks my world! – but I've never tried basil… will do next time! Love from Holland

  4. Heather, I love smoothies with ginger! Try banana, coconut milk, strawberries and/or raspberries, flax/chia/hemp hearts, ginger, and (wait for it…) cardamom! The combo of coconut flavour with ginger and cardamom is so good! I usually use half coconut milk, half coconut water so it's not too rich. The banana makes it nice and sweet, and the fresh, tart berries counter the rich coconut. Give it a try! 🙂

  5. As a vegan I am always perplexed with how many smoothie videos vegans post on YouTube.  I rarely have a smoothie since I like food that has more substance. Is there a reason you do so many smoothie videos?

Easiest thing to do with sprouts is use them in place of lettuce in a pita or regular bread sandwich, or  in vegan burger patties, or mixed in a salad.

  6. I have a smoothie almost every morning for breakfast. My smoothies typically consist of kale, a banana, frozen blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, mango, and peaches. I also add chia and flax seeds and maca powder. And a little water.
I'm definitely going to try incorporating fresh ginger and sprouts.
