  1. PRO TIP: Tomato bread is THE BASE FOR EVERY SANDWICH in catalonia, as mayonnaise is for americans. Instead of spreading mayo on a sandwich, we rub in in tomato, drizzle olive oil, and then we fill it with ham, cheese, bacon, chicken whatever a sandwich can be filled with.

    PD. In catalonia we rub the tomato on the bread, not pulp it. They sell a specific variety of tomato (tomàquet de penjar) that rubs very very well leaving only a really thin skin behind. However, the method shown here is used in many restaurants bc it accepts all types of tomato and is more tomato forward to eat it as a tapa.

  2. This looks so good! I make something very similar, only difference is I add a little bit of oregano, some mozzarella, and sometimes a cured meat or something similar like pepperoni…it’s amazing!
