Why are they called "razor" clams?
What are those things? Nothing like the razor clams I grew up with on the beaches of the Pacific Northwest. The ones I grew up with are around 8 or 9 inches long by 2 or 3 inches wide, flat, maybe ¾ of an inch thick with a reddish brown to walnut brown shell. Sharp and shiny, as if it has been lacquered.
