I too had this as a weekly staple growing up; it was one of my favorites.
❤
I had this so much as a kid, I cannot eat it now, but thank you for the Word.
Stouffers still makes this! I find it in the frozen section of H-E-B here in Texas.
You are absolutely right about people not being close to the Lord 😔. Very sad
My mom made this for us in the 1950's. She also would make the same white sauce recipe and put chopped boiled eggs in it. Both were served over toast and so delicious. This brings back such great memories of watching my mama cook for her 4 children.
How do you know people trusted God more back in the 40s? Just because some people don't believe like you doesn't mean they don't have faith!
I could never cool with cast iron. My food turned out grey.
A lady at the church I attend brought thus for our breakfast after sonrise service
Thanks. I've been wanting some SOS for some time and was pleased to see this recipe. Keep up the inspirational messages. We need to hear this more often and to take it to heart.
Stouffer's has the frozen cream chipped beef. Probably not as healthy and good as homemade.
I think my mom use to brown her flour and beef together then add the milk.
Hey Becky, i have been able to get the frozen from ingles. I think it is Stauffer brand. Probably not as good as homemade. Thank you for the recipe. My mom use to make this for us when was little. Good memories. Love ya❤
Creamed chipped beef on toast was served often when I was growing up. We all liked it. I remember the chipped came in a glass jar. Thanks for the memory.
My Mom made this with jarred dried beef and evaporated milk. She would add peas to the gravy and meat. I have used her recipe for years and my family has always loved it.
The jars of dried beef are SO expensive now I will try @jesusislord2457 suggestion of ground beef, even though it won't be the same.
This is one of my all time favorite meals. It started when I was a kid and yes, i bought it in the boil in the bag. You can still find it but just not as good and so I started making it myself. Delicious. I use butter and flour. Yum Yum. And I'm proud to say my 40 year old daughter makes it as well. Thank you!
Oh yeah! A staple. I learned to make from my mom… I am almost 82 and have been making this for ages. My family likes it best on toast but at times by myself I have enjoyed it on leftover mashed potatoes or even rice. I have definitely heard what it has been called. 🤪 I watched your video watching the eclipse today. I missed the very beginning of the eclipse since I was inside getting my dang taxes done 😖 Here in Southern California we only had a partial but it was so amazing. Our church hostess…she has our small church family in her ranch home…but she had bought s bunch of the glasses for viewing the eclipse. The things that God does..so many miracles. I hope you had a blessed Easter. 🙏✝️❤️
On hot toast and butter is great!!
Those boil n bags of chipped beef are a childhood memory of mine! Years later I tried to find them and was sad to find out that they were gone. I have yet to even ever find chipped beef.
My dad was in the army and he also had a different name for them SOS is what we called them. lol 😉
GOD LOVES YOU! I KNOW HE DOES!
I like to add a can of sweet peas to that. You gotta drain it first.
Great childhood memories of my mom boiling that bag. Still a favorite.
My favorite dish as a kid. Haven't had it decades. Time to go back in time. Yum.
I make it at least twice a week for my husband. He loves cream beef He loves it over toast or bagels.
I enjoyed your show immensely over the years Becky
Question: Do you ever soak your beef in water to get some of the salt out of the meat? It's not a critical point, but I am curious?
💩 on a Shingle is what my granny called this & as a child, i always loved when she made it bc i could curse without getting in trouble. 😂 Thanks for the video & the memories. 😊
A fork and a cast iron skillet is how I make gravy!
Where did you get that beef? I have never seen it like that.
Our grandma and grandpa raised 8 of us kids. Grandma used to make bologna gravy and hot dog gravy, and it was really good! I am 73 and still make it!
My mother made this on a regular basis when I was a child, and I had forgotten about it and how good it is. I'm buying chipped beef and light bread at the store on Monday!
I grew up eating this, I'm over 8o.
I just forgot about it, I haven't eaten it learn about 30 years. I'm picking me up a jar next trip to the grocery store.
Thank you for bringing it back it really was good.
I wasn't in the Navy. But I was in the Army. Ues we called it something else. BUT This was my favorite part of breakfast. I'd have ham n chz with mushroom omlette hashbrowns with creamed beef over everything. To this day I could eat it 2 or 3 times a week. Maybe more. Thanks for the idea to make an old favorite.
I lived on this while I was in Air Force basic training in the early 80’s. Still love it to this day. Thanks for making this Becky!
This is exactly the way my Navy dad taught me and how I still make it. Sometimes we use Budding Beef in place of the dried beef when it isn't available.
Brings back fond memories 🥰
Amen
